The timing is kind of crap. You have to say it, then wait for it to acknowledge it, then speak your request. It's rubbish at times.

Vex, do you know if this is specific to a particular Cardo model, or any of the Cardo gadgets which have voice control?Vex wrote: Tue Aug 25, 2020 6:09 am The timing is kind of crap. You have to say it, then wait for it to acknowledge it, then speak your request. It's rubbish at times.

Re: who has a shoei Air
Just heard from Cardo about their plans to incorporate BT 5, well an initial response, let's say.
"Thank you for reaching out.
Can you please tell me whats benefited for you when using an intercom if it has Bluetooth 5?
And I'm sorry, but we don't have any low volume issues with our units.
All of our units are at the top that regulations allow by low."
I re-submitted my BT, and several other thoughts. Hope to hear about their plans re: BT 5.

Does the "Auto volume sensitivity'"
I'm not familiar with this function, l looked over the instruction manual and did not see any reference to it. I have the Packtalk Slim, maybe other versions have this feature or I'm just dense and can't find it.

Re: who has a shoei Air
I would guess that it's any that support the Google voice control. The Cardo voice controls are fine unless you have a loud exhaust or loud helmet. Due to the way that it passes ok google, it's just a little tricky and laggy.Prof J wrote: Tue Aug 25, 2020 8:35 amVex, do you know if this is specific to a particular Cardo model, or any of the Cardo gadgets which have voice control?Vex wrote: Tue Aug 25, 2020 6:09 am The timing is kind of crap. Edit: also, it's not an issue with BT if that's what you are wondering. It's how the software processes and passes the initial keywords. I also only use mesh for Cardo to Cardo connections.

Vex, thanks. Cardo responded to my initial few questions about BT 5 tech coming to their Cardo systems, low volume, and the Google voice control now. Still waiting on a second response.Vex wrote: Wed Aug 26, 2020 12:09 amI would guess that it's any that support the Google voice control. I'm not an engineer of any type - maybe some in the know will add their thoughts, but I'd think 1) range would be notable benefit, and or 2) higher bandwidth 3) Items 1 and 2 allow for modifiable range-power options, more so than BT 4, 4) continued and improved better for connection to multiple devices, 5) lower energy (?), 6) LE audio down the road, 7) range is important, and quality of connection over that range, as you know. I suspect Cardo DMC is backboned by BT? If so I'd think DMC would benefit from BT 5+.
Re: low volume, there are a good number of user reports about the 'max' volume being too low, and, I did not mention this before, but some folks report voice control is less than quick or consistent. These are some of the more notable things I've read/viewed.
What is Cardos' plan to get up to date with BT 5 (+)?

Re: who has a shoei Air
Mm. I don't think the DMC tech is bluetooth based, but I could be wrong. It's likely more akin to mesh networking hubs. Bluetooth generally only matters when connecting to your phone, honestly. You should be using the DMC when connecting with other riders; the experience is vastly better. I won't list the reasons why because you can easily google it.
My unit is pretty loud, even over my bike and the wind. I did find that a previous software update had made it quieter, but one of the recent ones fixed that for me. Additionally, I've found that positioning is everything. A few mm off-center can make a massive difference in how loud it is to you due to centering on your ear.
As for BT5...eh. I couldn't care less. If a new unit comes out and it's vastly better, then sure, but I wouldn't wait on it. There will always be better tech on the horizon. The connections are solid, and I can listen all day long connected to my buddies and shootin' the shit while having background music playing. If you are just riding by yourself and have the music going, you can easily get an entire day's worth of play out of it with battery to spare. If you are worried about it, you can charge it while you use it by just plugging it into a battery pack or your bike.
I've never once ran out of battery, even when we rode for 10-12 hours straight

Re: who has a shoei Air
So Cardos' final response about a when/if they are moving towards BT 5+ was this:
"As you do have some great points, you probably understand that we can't share any of our future plans.
But let me assure you that we are aware of the benefits of having Bluetooth 5 on our units, and you will need to follow our social media so you will be updated regarding any future plans concerning our units."
. . . waiting

Re: who has a shoei Air
I thought I'd surprise my partner my ordering her a GT Air 2. Her old helmet is about 13 years old, but she's kept it in as good as new shape. She likes the paint scheme of it.
The GT Air 2 is a light gray, and for me, fits better (more snug) than my Neotec 2.
She doesn't like the 'plain' color, and is not going to use it!
Her favorite:

The GT Air 2: yes it is plain
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QpKXAC ... sp=sharing
I'll probably sell this new, unused GT Air 2 if the Neotec 2 custom pads getting picked up Friday do not work well. Both the Neo Tec 2 and GT Air 2 are mediums, and the NeoTec has the thickest pads I can get, and it is still too loose. The GT Air 2 has the medium thickness pads, and fits much more snug/better, particularly around the cheek and neck area.

Re: who has a shoei Air
Get it painted or vinyl wrapped. There are plenty of people out their that provide that service. And the cool thing is, you can design your own
A 13 year old helmet is not, in _ANY_ way, shape, or form, safe. The amount of safety developments alone, in that 13 years, is insane.
If it's a typo, and you meant 3 years, well... still usable, but scoping out some new lids is on the horizon.
