I don't know. Seems like more posters complain about the seat than not. Poor seat design IMHO.Prof J wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2019 3:47 am Ya know, I don't think the stock seat is exactly the issue. I think each rump has it's own characteristics. in relation to the seat. I think that figuring out how to keep the blood flow 'through' your rump to the legs likely solves the issue.
What gets in the way of figuring that out? Perhaps: 1) how close your particular arteries are in relation to the seat, 2) and the amount of matter (fat and muscle) between the artery and seat. For some a positional change will help, for some modifying the seat form, etc.
It's a pain in the ass, sometimes, to get it just right.

I'm gonna get me a Sargent when they're available. Had one on my Z1000SX and it was great

Luckily there is a Sargent shop in the UK as well
Will place the order before Brexit is going to happen.

I alternate shifting bum cheeks off the seat. On the motorway, can ride quite a long time like this. Taking weight of your bum by pushing through the pegs helps I find, as does standing up at lights, queues etc. All seats bloody hurt if you ride long and far enough!

All seats bloody hurt ...
Not all ... as far as I can see it‘s up to the basic design of the foot pegs - seat - handlebars triangle.
Especially for shorter people the distance between the seat (sitting in the seat recess) and the handlebars is quite long. Because of this you tend to move forward on the seat which brings you nearer to the handlebars and make you sitting more upright but on the narrower part of the seat. This then hurts especially at the inner thigh.
I always thought that the bones hurt but it‘s not. It‘s the muscle.
So finally it is up to the seats design to „cure“ this ...
Most probably a very individual thing ...

That looks comfy. I may give it a go too, after I get the handle bars higher & pulled back.DeRox wrote: Sun Aug 18, 2019 7:15 am I'm gonna get me a Sargent when they're available. Had one on my Z1000SX and it was great

Re: That seat!!!
So I'm off Thur to Crater lake, about 99 miles from home. I've put the seat, mildly inflated, on the bike. If it 'performs' well I'll take it to the upholsterer in town. Another addition I plan on is an lsl setup. That combination, maybe with moving the foot controls forward a few inches, ought to make to the golden triangle. Finger crossed.

I had mine redone by a local seat builder. Still needs a few tweaks to be perfect, but 10x better than it was.
