I apologize for this thread going completely off topic. But did you have an issues torquing them to 44ftlbs when reusing them. I could inly get 4 to like 39-40ftlbs, tossed orange loctite on them just to be safe. If i gotta take them off again, im going with titanium bolts.Champ87 wrote: Wed Mar 16, 2022 2:31 pmNothing so complicated. They're locknuts that lose their locking bite after a few uses. Kawasaki are playing it safe by recommending new nuts each time.Robbieben wrote: Wed Mar 16, 2022 8:18 am imagine that the studs are made of a tougher material compared to the nuts, probably why Kawasaki stipulate new nuts but not studs when replacing a sprocket.

Re: Air Filter Bolts
I replaced the nuts with new but decided afterwards it was probably overkill. I don't always follow the manual for torque (e.g. swing arm pinch bolts). I don't recall any issues in this case so think I did torque them to the 60 Nm noted in the service manual.Snakes709 wrote: Wed Mar 16, 2022 8:53 pmBut did you have an issues torquing them to 44ftlbs when reusing them. I thought I was the only one that hasn't used a torque wrench for every procedure.Somehow that's not a popular subject on forums.lol.I replaced the nuts with new but decided afterwards it was probably overkill. Re: Air Filter Bolts
Yeah, some people feel comfortable judging how tight a bolt should be. That's fine for them and their bike but not something I would advocate. Personally, I feel much more comfortable using a torque wrench when a manufacturer has provided a torque setting but it has to be balanced with some intelligence and experience.prettybirdSE wrote: Thu Mar 17, 2022 4:02 amI thought I was the only one that hasn't used a torque wrench for every procedure.Somehow that's not a popular subject on forums.
The swing arm pinch bolts are a good example. A couple of members have experienced issues with those bolts seizing then stripping the threads out of the swingarm when removed. Mindful of this, I apply Copaslip to the bolts. The specified torque is for a dry bolt so obviously needs to be adjusted for lubed bolts.
