Stock limiter set to 12800?
I was going over the videos with scrutiny when I decided to create an overlay of two frames in the French KLCM video and it appears to me that the rider was able to reach 12800 RPM on the test bikes..
What are your thoughts?

How come there is no gear indicated on the dash when tach is at 12800 and throttle indicator is wide open ... maybe a missed gear shift?

It's because the gear-indicator flashes between shifts to get the riders attention, it so happens that in the snapshot of the video I took the indicator number was in the process of flashing and I caught it while it was off..

Actually, going through the video again, I realized the gear indicator flashes when the shift light is activated

Re: Stock limiter set to 12800?
The ZX10R redline shows the rev limiter as 13K but it doesn't kick in until 13,500-13,750 RPMs. At 13,500 RPMs gearing commander puts its unrestricted top speed at 194 MPH.
The ZX14R redline shows 11k on the tach and the quick search I did claims the red limit is 11k rpms. According to Gearing commander the unlimited top speed @ 11k rpms would be 201 mph. Gearing commander has the rev limit as 10,600 which would put the unlimited top speed at 193.9 MPH.
The SX shows a redline of 12k but we haven't seen anything stating where the actual rev limiter is set. If we go off of the redline on the tach, 12k as the rev limit that puts the bike at 184.7 MPH unrestricted top speed. Which seems low for a bike that is claimed to be built for the autobahn. If we put the rev limit at 12.5 on gearing commander the unrestricted top speed becomes 192.4 which seems realistic and more inline with the other 2 Kawasaki big bikes. Putting it at 12,800 rpms puts the unrestricted top speed at 197 mph which is closer to the 11k rpm limit of the zx14r.
I would say that the rev limiter is set to 12,500 rpms at a minimum and possibly upto 12,800 rpms. Possibly to account for the drag of having bags on the bike.
A side note there is a video of the Panigale V4 doing an all out top speed run on the Bruntingthorpe proving grounds 1.988 mile runway and hitting 191.3 on GPS. But the speedo stopped at 186 mph.. So it seems Ducati has broken the so called "Manufactures Gentleman Agreement" to not produce bikes that go over 185 mph. This could go good or bad for motorcycling as a whole. It could cause other manufactures to follow suite and stop limiting their bikes at 185 mph. It could also cause Governments to pass laws limiting the top speed of bikes to a lot lower.

Re: Stock limiter set to 12800?
who knows if these bikes even have production ECUs, they could be "tweaked" just for this event.
I'm curious to see if the SX throttle bodies will close early like they do on the H2. on these bikes in these videos it doesn't seem so, the SX appears to still be pulling like a train at ~280 kph in all these recent videos, riders just have to shut down due to running out of room on the straight.

My money is on they will close early. Just because you don't see it in the video doesn't mean it's not happening heck it's hard to tell when it happens when riding a bike that does it until you get it set up for them to stay open.Hillman wrote: ↑Fri Feb 09, 2018 6:38 pmwho knows if these bikes even have production ECUs, they could be "tweaked" just for this event.

I just listened to this French review and the reviewer says that Kawasaki guarantees that the bike can reach 299 KMH with a passenger and luggage.
