You need to read my post carefully. The K1600 GA is the bike with the issue as well to a lesser extent the K1600 B. It does not apply to the K1600 GT or GTL. The lower bagger stance as well as the shape of the bike screwed with the great aeros of the GT and the GTL. My K1600B is not horrible at 125mph but it does not cut through the air the way the H2 or my FJR does.2HYPR wrote: ↑Thu Aug 09, 2018 3:03 pmI have a K1600 GTL Exclusive that does not wobble an inch at 200 kmh+.... frickin thing is rock solid and in no way "speed limited" the others I don't know about - but my 16 is not limited and doesn't flinch...I guess when they changed the panniers into those silly 'bagger' looking things the air doesn't flow around them like mine? Is it form over function to get that Bagger look for the yank market?

FJR919.... I did read your post- did you read mine? I do know the difference between GTL, GA and B - hence my statement "I guess when they changed the panniers into those silly 'bagger' looking things the air doesn't flow around them like mine?".
I am sorry if my opinion of the GA and B's looks over function offended you - but it's just an opinion on the internet I wouldn't worry too much about it... just stick to 125 and below I guess

Gotcha... and not offended at all by the post. I have different bikes with different looks an I think the 1600 B looks good if you like the looks of baggers, which I do. Unfortunately all the baggers I've ridden have been a disappointment performance wise; specifically power and handling and I'm talking about Harleys and the F6B I owned. The 1600 B at least has good power and doesn't mind being thrown around in the twisties. And yes, I just keep it under 125.2HYPR wrote: ↑Thu Aug 09, 2018 9:23 pmFJR919.... Re: Why not a Top Case?
I have no interest in adding a top case but I'll throw in some information to think about if you feel a top case is essential.
A while back Barrel posted a link to an interview with Juichi Oyanagi Kawasaki's designer for the H2 SX. In that interview he said "To add a top case would have meant needing a stronger sub-frame, which would have been bulkier and heavier". So there's the answer to the thread title "Why not a Top Case?"
That isn't to say you can't add one - a solo rider with a properly mounted and modestly loaded top case probably isn't going to put any more load on the sub-frame than carrying a passenger. Obviously, it would need more thought if the bike is to be loaded up with full side cases, top case and a passenger who uses the top case as a backrest. Clearly that is beyond the design intent and starts to eat into any safety margin built into the design. In that case, a smart move would be regular checks to ensure no cracks are appearing in the sub-frame.

Re: Why not a Top Case?
Hallo Freunde,
LG Dugas

Re: Why not a Top Case?
GIVI has released their topbox mounting system. A fellow on the Facebook page has it installed, and it works with the OEM panniers! I thought he had posted about it here, but haven't run across it yet.Dugas wrote: ↑Sun Oct 07, 2018 9:13 amHallo Freunde,

Motorcycling is not, of itself, inherently dangerous. It is, however, extremely unforgiving of inattention, ignorance, incompetence, or stupidity

Link to details of GIVI top box rack. Kit shown is not actual H2 SX kit. Note: max. allowed load of 6 kg (13 lbs)
