Murph's bar riser design update #3
Re: Murph's bar riser design update #3
I'm awaiting some answers on this because I have read that some people have used the risers along with Murphs with success but I was one that Murph sent a prototype to and my reply to him was that it didn't work with Bryans risers. I still have the prototypes at home not being used because I wanted to lower the bike through the triple tree which is more important to me than the Murph bars. I too ground a little of the screen frame hoping to get the clearance but it still hit and I also removed the pin and turned those bars in every direction but couldn't get it not to hit.

Re: Murph's bar riser design update #3
Thank You Turbo!Appreciate the fast confirmation.
I have the ZERO GRAVITY 'touring screen' coming. It appears to have a slightly different cut to that end edge.It may clear it just fine.Wasn't sure about the switchgear and if it could be turned. So again thanks.Certainly didn't want to damage the housing and usabilty.I'll leave it alone for now.Haven't ridden her yet with the risers on there...but excited about it!.
I reread his instructions and it does mention at full lock there IS rubbing. So it isn't me doing something wrong with the install.I have lessened it to almost nothing though. If I ground down the inner fairing along the windscreen right in there,it would be fine. Not gonna do that though.
Thanks again Turbo for putting my mind at ease with this. The risers are REALLY nice.
I don't care if the hose pushes slightly against that screen frame in there, but the screen riding up and over the switch housing isn't okay with me since I do turn right to full lock occasionally.I don't want the bolt/fairing attachment to crack.
I think maybe those saying both will work are maybe NOT turning to full lock either way.It will work fine with both if ya don't lock the steering either way.

Re: Murph's bar riser design update #3
I have a Zero Gravity screen installed, and the left side switch gear barely hits the inner upper fairing/windscreen at full turn.prettybirdSE wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 3:20 pm How'd you guys using Bryan's(and Murph's) get clearance full turn right to left?
How often do you turn the bars to full turn? Never while riding, and not very often when you have to maneuver the bike around in the garage or something. It's really a non-issue IMO. Sacrificing a much more comfortable riding position for an infrequent slight rub doesn't make sense to me. And the only reason it rubs is because the left side switch gear is huge because all the controls are there.

Okay.I installed Bryan's risers again. For some reason the clutch hose no longer contacts the fairing at full right lock.Or left either.I don't have my stock screen installed on there though.I know that's gonna hit the switchgear.Hoping my Zero Gravity gets here within a week or so.It's supposed to.It does look like the ZG is cut differently at the lower edge.Maybe it'll clear the switch.I'll just mod it if I need to.Thanks again UFO.

My stuff hit the screen frame which I ground down to try to get more clearance but I found out that the frame is hollow and I ground through the bottom portion, top that is visible still is ok. That was on the right side.

Yah.I aint gonna grind of any framing piece.I did rotate the bars though(levers)and that definitely gave clearance. Now just to ride with it all.Gotta wait.4" of snow out there right now...
New years resolution...'stop riding like I stole it'.I'm not thinkin.Shit happens.I need to remember that as much as I'd like to think I'm invincible.I looked at my videos.I'm gamblin bigtime on the street. No more. This bike makes it so easy to think everything is controllable. It isn't.
Besides,I have two precious cats here. They need me.I can't let em down....

OK, I have to clear things up from what I have been reporting. I was one of the prototype guys and found that the risers pretty much hit everywhere with Brian's spacers and the bike lowered front and rear, which at the time was more important for me when racing from roll on to top gear so I took them off and put them away. Fast forward to now and the bike is up here in Georgia for mountain riding the rest of the year and I thought I would raise the bike back up and try the risers again. I took off the spacers and installed the risers and low and behold there was only a slight amount of touching of the left fairing, which by the way is much less than the ABM bars on my turbo 14R. So here is the DUMMY part. I found that the risers are right and left specific and I had them switched the first time. I took it all apart again and installed Brian's spacers and Murphs risers and all is good. I spoke to Murph about it and he laughed and said he would include that information on his next orders. He sent me a new anodized set with his brake line spacer as Brians was too short. Everything is installed and as good as I could hope for. Sorry if I created hesitancy to order these as they do work great.
