There must be a way to turn the corning lights all on during night rides - I think that would be a nice option

Prof:

For much of my trip I rode in front of a friend’s SE+ and it’s not so much strength as small size of the low beam. In my mirrors it was a small dot of light. I could see him a lot better when his cornering lights lit up. I’m not aware of any aftermarket replacements.

Zotto:

They are not aimed for straightaways and would not be useful at night other than when cornering.

My riding philosophy since 1967 has been 1) I am invisible (no matter what I do) to everyone else on the road, 2) every driver (car and truck) is out to kill me. Not driving as many miles/year as I used to and I am still here at 74. YMMV.

Danham,

I understand, thank you. If someone were to consider a bit of light mod'ing, that fake right air dam has reasonable front sq. inch area that an insulated HID ,or maybe better yet a high intensity led 'set' could be made to fit, each aligned to cover a portion on the road. Some of those sets electronics are pretty compact. I haven't compared aftermarket lights, but I used a few aftermarket HID setups and liked them a lot. Very bright. If there is a little bit of stuff behind the false front, I think I remember hearing that, perhaps that could be adjusted.

I haven't been out at night yet, just got the bike lowered and kickstand shortened. One of the first things I look at changing, if weak, are the headlights.

On p. 91 of the service manual is the setup for the low beam. I'd think a powerful ancillary, setup 'almost' similarly would brighten the road, and also have improved visibility with on-coming traffic, and to be more visible by you if that bike were behind you. Maybe even a Vette high intensity low beam in a hand made small housing? The reflector'd be more a challenge to size and find.

Local government recently amended the highway safety code to make using high beams during the day legal on motorcycles. And they actually highly recommend it.

danham,
I saw this youtube, and a few others re: reflector v projector light design. The projector looks promising for a maybe install in the faux air duct area, adding more light and visibility, and no need for a reflector cage.

The innovative guy has some interesting setups.

Here's a guy doing surgery on a projector setup.

So looking at the first clip an upgrade from LED to HID may make a difference.
Has anyone tried that?
