I will admit I make myself as annoying as possible during the day and ride with the highs on. Maybe it works, maybe it does not but after 27 years of sport bike riding I am still here. Not conclusive evidence but good enough for me. And yes every place a car could pull in front of me I am geared down ready to brake or hammer the bitch.
… and the counter argument is that after 41 years (yikes, am I really that old???) of riding, doing up to 18,000 miles a year, commuting and touring, in the city, in the countryside and on motorways/freeways, autobahns, in multiple countries across Europe, I have never ridden during daylight with my high beam on and I'm still here.
All I ask of you is to think a little here. A fellow biker is telling you that actions you take (which are actually illegal) are making their life more difficult/uncomfortable/dangerous. Is getting all "high and mighty" and saying "F**k you, I'll ride how I want" really the best, grown-up response?
Your last paragraph is a very reasonable question. I’ll try to respond in kind. As I tried to say above, perhaps with excessive snark, I try to be very selective about when I use high beam during daylight. Your comments will make me a bit more selective, so I thank you for making them.
May I respectfully suggest that words like “selfish” and “ignorant” also contributed to this thread heading off into the rhubarb.

I think we will just agree to disagree. Perhaps get some sun glasses. I have never been blinded by daytime headlights.I really don’t understand the issue. And as far as legality, that is questionable, but the least of my worries on this bike.

I don't drive with the high beam but if I did and a driver flashed his brights at me, I'd take it as a compliment. The light is feeble.

Fair enough. But have you given thought to the fact that tractor trailers have a multitude of mirrors, all aimed at the driver's eyes? Just a different perspective.

While I completely accept this is not your response, this is why words like "selfish" and "ignorant" are sometimes appropriate!

"I've never had a problem so it can't be a problem for anyone else …. "

I drove a semi for 10 years...never blinded then either.

it is proven to help. I respect your opinion, but disagree with it as do many others.

Good to know. I was essentially quoting from my moto instruction many years ago.

I want to walk back the comment. I spoke before actually riding at night with it. It seems fine to me now.

Danham, any stronger low beam replacement setups?
