On a good note, the jacket and a shave

Post by Prof J » Wed Jun 19, 2019 7:40 pm

I dropped off the front seat, for a shave, and my old leather jacket, for a new zipper, in town last Friday to a guy who specializes in vehicle upholstery. He said he'd look at them Monday. Earlier I had a shoe repair guy provide an estimate for the jacket, and he said $100, maybe a little more.

Went out and picked them up today, and he did a very nice job on both pieces. The seat was shaved about 3/4" form the center and sides. I can now get most of my feet on the pavement - that's great. After I get some miles on the seat, for a longer fitment, he'll readjust with no additional cost.

I'm going to have him reupholster in leather. I've read some forums and articles on various thicknesses of leather (not split face), ranging from 3-4, to 8-10. He has some leather in shop, which I'd guess is a 3-4.

As soon as I get to installing the lowering links, I'll be on the road for some fun.

His cost for re-zippering and the shave, $50.00. Great price.
