I'm glad you put up your question here. It will be interesting to see if anyone else has encountered this issue.

How many miles did you have on your bike before you had your ECU flashed?

My bike was delivered yesterday. I'm waiting on lowering links, and other things before I get out on it. It's just that little bit too high, as was the ZX-14, that I had to lower it.

Yeah, the plug gap. Seems a good number of folks here are running vcyclenut's map, and so far I have not seen anyone post up this type of issue so far.

I did everything around 500 miles.

Prof J, before you try the lowering links did you try the low seat? I'm pretty short (29" inseam) and I'm fine with the low seat. (apologies for thread hijack).

FJR919,

Yes, I have the seat pulled and I'm going to take it into town to a car upholsterer. I ordered the lowering links several weeks before I got the bike, and they have not arrived yet.

My inseam is 26-27". Though I'd prefer not to lower the bike, I think I'm going to 'have to'. This bikes seat position height seems about 1 plus inches higher than what I remember the 14 was. I put a lower Corbin seat on that, and with the lowering links it was perfect.

I did have the folks at Willow Springs advise me, because when I was in the curves, I'd drag the foot peg on the pavement the entire curves length, so they said not to lean so much. I explained my bike was lowered, and that I was riding 'safely", and they 'nope, don''t', they did not care. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm guessing if I take the stock seat in, they'd maybe be able to shave an inch off of the top, leaving what I think would be about two inches left. I'd also have them modify the front 'pommel' and rear 'cantel', for a little more height, maybe 1-2"s.

Have you tried rotating the rear eccentric? If you rotate it around where the axle it at the top of the swing, that would drop the rear a bit. Free lowering. We had a number of people do that with Triumph's single sider.

Motorcycling is not, of itself, inherently dangerous. It is, however, extremely unforgiving of inattention, ignorance, incompetence, or stupidity

This sounds like a technique and body position problem, if your not going to higher rear sets.

And they're right, dragging pegs more than a touch isn't safe riding.

stk0308,

The shock is what you are talking about? No I have not. I'll take a look at it tomorrow.

" rotate it around where the axle it at the top of the swing", meaning the shock is compressed?

Thank you for the idea.

No, the axle adjustment eccentric.

No, the axle adjustment eccentric.
I'm not familiar with it. I'm going to research the where and how to do that, and try it out.

Thanks for the suggestion. That may save me some $ on the lowering links. ?
