Makes me wonder if they will do away with those grooves on the GT III's, if they do those. They didn't have them on the original GTs.
All in all, seems like a good tire excepting those parallel grooves. Edge grip is nice. I pulled 56 degrees left and 58 degrees right up Glendora Mtn Rd today. Doesn't really count, corners are quite banked up there. I did slide the front a bit once (scary), but it was coooold.

Love this bike.

We'll see how many miles I get on the GT II's. I'm stuck with an hour long hwy commute for the next month or so. :( Could be worse, I could have to drive....

I put on 6000km on the GTII's this season, rain grip is superb, you can really go at it but in warmer conditions and hard riding (54 degree lean angle+) I had severall slips while neither accelerating nor deccelerating. Its a really nice sport touring tire, but I'm don't quite as happy with it as with the S21 in terms of high lean angle grip and feedback from the tire. In slow tight coners like in the alps the bike tends to tip into the corner over the front tire. I think it might be good for another 3000km, which would make one set last about 9000km. I'm gonna try the S22 next, I need that faith in the grip of the tire past 55 degree lean, and therefore I need clear feedback. The downside is that the S22 won't last long. But I really push the machine and therefore the tire has to be top notch. (I maxed lean at 57/58).

Don't hard parts start dragging around 55?

I've almost eradicated the little screws on the pegs cause these are the only things dragging. I got rid of them entirely. Past 55 I lift the foot to allow the peg to go further up. I wish there where some higher aftermarket pegs...

I'm sure you'll keep us updated on your thoughts about the S22. I really like my Angel GT II's, but I hate the grooves. I think Pirelli made a big mistake in trying to out compete Michelin in rain performance.

I certainly will, as of right now she's taking her winter nap. I'm gonna change the tires once the GTII is worn out.

I've been reluctant to go with a full sport tire (as opposed to a sport-touring tire), thinking that a sport tire might not be stiff enough for the weight of the bike.

There is. Sato racing makes full adjustable rear sets for our bike
