Big Bend
Made a quick trip to the Big Bend area of West Texas this week. 550 miles each way on Wednesday and Friday. the highlight was Thursday and putting 400 miles on her including the infamous FM170, The River Road, between Presidio and Lajitas. The SE performed flawlessly and was able to hit 145 mph on one straight road. Had a great time. a few pics of the bike, part of the road and the Rio Grande.

Re: Big Bend
That top box is crazy....the problem I am finding with my SX, is finding someone crazy enough to go do a 10 day trip with me. I have an awesome route mapped out thru AZ up to CO, NM and back.

Re: Big Bend
Looks like a great trip, and the ideal bike for it.
How did you get on with regards to seat comfort?
That said … what is that "thing" on the back of your bike!!!!
How much luggage space do you need for three days?
In less than two weeks (12 days actually - not that I'm counting!!! ;) ) I'm taking mine from the UK, across France, through the Black Forest, across the Alps to the Dolomites in Italy. www.old-gits.org/thenexttrip.htm I'll have my panniers, a small bag on the pillion for my waterproofs and a tank bag I can easily detach and carry with me for valuables. That'll do me luggage wise for 9 days!! ( … and yes, before you ask, I do change my clothes!

Re: Big Bend
I don't like top boxes either. For solo riding I can't see the need for it, but for two up I guess the box is convenient for longer trips. For two persons the panniers and a tank bag will be too little space.
But with a top box this bike loses its sportyness imo.......
For 10 days trips in Europe I only have my panniers and a SW-Motech tank bag. https://www.agmshop.no/sw-motech/bagasj ... 0001043707
And yes...., I do change my clothes too.......

Re: Big Bend
On several (maybe five) long trips with my '04 Triumph Sprint ST, I had panniers, top box and tank bag (all Triumph products). This allowed carrying clothes, emergency kit items, and so on. Yes, I could have taken less and yes I did not use any of the emergency items on those trips, Gott sie dank. Life is full of choices. I will say that a top box with no panniers is a convenient configuration for riding in traffic. On the Sprint, I could fit my jacket and helmet in the top box.
