If someone wanted those lights of 'always' when the bike turns on, the relay method will bypass the IMU, and other bike systems, as it'd be a direct setup, independent from any of the bikes brains.JonTheChron wrote: Mon Jun 24, 2019 9:15 am You guys have to realize that the light are controlled by the IMU. and not a simple switch, it's more complicated than you think, the left light controls the right one.

Re: Auxiliary lighting for the H2SXSE
JonTheChron is right. There is a single power feed from the relay. Switching for each of the 6 cornering lights (3 each side) occurs inside the left cornering light unit. It's controlled by the ECU using lean angle data from the IMU. It's a CANBUS signal (GY/BL & LB wires) so you can't simply plug in a 12v feed - you have to "talk" to the left cornering light.JonTheChron wrote: Mon Jun 24, 2019 9:15 am You guys have to realize that the light are controlled by the IMU. and not a simple switch, it's more complicated than you think, the left light controls the right one.
BTW that LH cornering light unit is an $800 part ($900 if you pay full price). Keep that in mind if you think hooking up a relay would do the trick. I'm pretty sure it could be done but anyone capable of figuring it out probably wouldn't be asking the question.

It's amazing how fast you can go when you take your time.
Re: Auxiliary lighting for the H2SXSE
I'm not talking about an in-system relay or in an in system setup, I am talking about adding an independent relay set up. Very easy to do, other than if you have to pull the bike apart to get to a trigger connection or the wiring for the lights.

Re: Auxiliary lighting for the H2SXSE
That's a bold statement from someone who admits he hasn't even looked at the wiring diagram, let alone the actual wiring on the bike. Nothing wrong with enthusiasm, but it doesn't help anyone achieve results when you’re simply guessing. You mention adding a relay and trigger connection but, if you actually look, you’ll see that isn’t necessary – the relay is already there (inside the nose fairing) and wired to provide ignition on power to the left cornering light unit. As I said, I'm pretty sure it could be done but, based on the work I did to install keyless ignition, I doubt that it’s going to be "Very easy to do". That doesn't mean nobody should try but do so with a proper understanding of what's there.Prof J wrote: Tue Jun 25, 2019 3:40 am....I am talking about adding an independent relay set up. BTW - if data is not sent from the left cornering light to the meter unit, the service code EFD is displayed. One more thing to consider before deciding to "bypass the IMU, and other bike systems. Welcome to 2019.
If anyone is interested to see how those cornering lights might look as riding lights, they can be turned on while the bike is upright using the adjustment mode in the menu settings. You won’t be able to turn on left and right together, but you should get some idea of where the cornering lights are aimed. They can be adjusted vertically but not horizontally.

You always have good info.
But for the question he asked, nothing bold about it. . .
and it is not a guess. Seriously.

Re: Auxiliary lighting for the H2SXSE
Alright my answer to the OPs question is is you want auxiliary lights on the H2SX you surely can add some, several people on here have done it. Just tap off with a 12V circuit and isolate it from the rest of the power using a relay, switch and fuse.Prof J wrote: Tue Jun 25, 2019 3:20 pm

As for having the cornering light on all the time, it doesn't seem possible for now. There probably is a way, but it's not as simple as adding a switch, as a matter of fact it's been a question on here since the bike was released over a year ago and some folks, including myself have been looking for a solution since day 1.

Re: Auxiliary lighting for the H2SXSE
JonTheChron's idea would work.
I think if someone were really dedicated, obsessed like, that they were going to to have those specific lights on, no matter the method, as it seems folks knowing the system and the system's being against the setup/idea, yeah, really got to have them? You can 'work around' the system by pulling the lights with connectors staying on the fixture/bulb hub and stuff them internally- they'd still be working, as far as the system cold tell - would be my guess, then buy and install another setup with external relay setup/install a switch rather than relay if you don't want an auto function, and put those light hubs into the OEM location. That is a LOT of headache/PITA and $$$ just to have those lights on full time. Perhaps a system guru can solve in the future.
Good luck.

Re: Auxiliary lighting for the H2SXSE
This might actually be really though.
Here is what I found on page 17-125 of the manual.
"Cornering Light ECU Inspection
○The cornering light ECU is built in the left cornering light. The cornering light ECU cannot be inspected.
• When the service code EFA is displayed on the LCD, replace the left cornering light (see Cornering Light Removal/Installation in the Electrical System chapter)."

Good info. If they don't want the system errors outlined by Champ87 earlier, someone'd about have to yank the OEM setup from it's place, leaving it connected so it is reported alive and well in the system, and buy a whole new setup of those lights, install in the original OEM location, and do your direct wire idea.
This bike is more like a space shuttle the more I learn.
