What's the Point of 3 Power Modes?
DeRox posted the power curves for the H2 SX SE in another thread, and it got me wondering what the point is for the 3 curves, other than having a low power mode for break in. Specifically, I don't understand why the curves are so similar below 6k RPM's:
I have 3 power modes on my Kawi Versys 1k, and had always assumed that the low power mode would provide less low end torque and thus be useful for riding on dirt/gravel or wet weather riding. (I don't want to rely completely on traction control). Controlling power at the high end of the RPM range isn't hard, so what's the point of 3 curves that are similar below 6k RPM?
Also, I've been kicking around the idea of a flash by vcyclenut. I believe that at top end, all of his curves provide full HP. I wonder how his low power mode compares to the factory low power mode at RPM's below 5k?

The throttle maps are less aggressive in the med and low power modes, thats where you notice a hige difference.

Re: What's the Point of 3 Power Modes?
I always thought the mid power range was if you wanted to let someone ride your bike that either you didn't want to have full power due to not knowing if they could handle the full power or not wanting them to abuse your bike . The low power I thought was for wet or low traction surfaces. After Vcyclenut flashed mine you still have 3 modes, the highest is "full race" mode which gives very aggressive throttle response, mid is "sport riding" which provides a smoother, more enjoyable throttle response (I like this best) and the low mode is "economy" for maximum gas mileage when touring. All 3 modes still provide full power if you hold the throttle wide open long enough. The 1st 2 are really just throttle response difference's and the 3rd is for economics and even though I haven't tried it, I like his modes much better than Kawasaki's.

Im going to have to try low and medium power modes, I have never used them even after the vcyclenut flash.Zdude wrote: Wed Apr 24, 2019 10:58 am I always thought the mid power range was if you wanted to let someone ride your bike that either you didn't want to have full power due to not knowing if they could handle the full power or not wanting them to abuse your bike . I like the sportriding mode Jon, it just smooths the throttle response out, good for riding the twisties. No mistake though, it only smooths the response, bike is still a beast. Not really like the stock modes at all, low, medium & full. It's more Economy, sport riding and aggressive with the throttle response the difference in the 2 upper modes.

In the city i use the med mode with vcyclenuts tune. Streets are still covered in sand from the winter so the twitchy throttle on full power is gonna cause issues. Out on the highway, full power, no question asked.

Tried Low mode yesterday.....what a waste of time, turns it into an unresponsive boat.
