RAM credit card snafu

Post by danham » Thu Apr 11, 2019 2:58 pm

For those of you who use virtual cards for online purchases, be aware that RAM in Seattle appears not to know how to deal with same.

I ordered a clutch mount and stem mount on March 27 for the SE and used a virtual card, as I always do. Per normal practice, RAM put a hold on the card for $54. They then took 10 days to do god knows what and emailed me this morning that my card was refused. Looking online, it became apparent that they never released the hold, but tried to charge the $54 order to the same card, so it bounced. I've dealt with plenty of online merchants who use temp holds to make sure they don't get scammed, but somehow every one of them until now has managed to do it correctly.

Luckily, Amazon has both mounts in stock and will deliver them day after tomorrow, all for about ten bucks less than RAM was charging to twiddle their thumbs for nearly two weeks. :bash:

Good to know. I purchase from RAM directly because I always try to go to the source as much as possible. Amazon is a clearing house for bootleg merchandise. I've been burned by them so many times that I avoid Amazon as much as possible.

Burma, I agree, but they tried my patience this time. On Amazon, the vendor is gpscity and I’ve done business with them before, plus they are an authorized RAM reseller, so fingers x’d.

Off to pick up the SE in a few minutes.

I totally understand. I do the same thing sometimes when no one else has what I need.

Best wishes on the pickup and RIDE!
