Rear wheel lift-detection

Post by dan_h2sx » Tue Apr 09, 2019 6:14 pm

I was wondering since the KIBS utilizes the data from the IMU for the Cornering-ABS, if it also uses this data to prevent us from flipping over our bikes in case of an emergency stop from higher speeds?

Does the rear wheel stay on the ground the whole time?

Can somebody confirm that we have this safty feature?

So on my zx10r it would help prevent you from lifting the rear wheel by lowering the amount of pressure on the front brake but it couldnt compete with physics. There was definitely a difference between tc off and on but if you had the speed and hammered on the front brake, it would still lift the rear. Now on the sx since its abit more advanced, not sure. I feel as though it still would but dont quote me on that.

I was thinking the same. Of course you can't beat physics at some point but as we have all the fancy electronics, I believe it should detect if the rear wheel lifts and reduce brake pressure up front to prevent a flip-over.

At the track I've been able to get the rear wheel to lock when trying to test the limits on the brakes. So I know it will lift slightly but I've never tried to really lift the rear so I'm not sure.
