Re: Arghhhh stone chip on top of my tank
after my second day of attempting a decent repair to the tank paint , I am back were I started , I get it just about correct , then when I do the final polish the paint comes out of the chip, paint doesn't seem to want to bond in the damaged spot ,I do think there is some kind of defect as the bike was ok when it was put away I would have noticed the mark easily, it has never been damaged or scratched and is always cleaned correctly. I have just sent Kawasaki uk an email with several pictures telling them of my thoughts , I have also mentioned that two others that I know of have the same issue in the same place, if any one has the same issue or any one has or can take pictures of the flaked paint and could post them on the forum we can let Kawasaki know, hopefully Kawasaki will get back to me , you don't know till you ask!!!!! a couple of pics of how the tank looks , leaving it like this till I hear from Kawasaki hopefully!!!

My dealer took pic, I don't think I have any. They were close to each other on top left side. Dealer looked and said "hmm to high to be rocks, no scratches from cleaning and no dent or dimple. I will fight for replacement."

Re: Arghhhh stone chip on top of my tank
that is so similar to mine !! I emailed my local dealer and Kawasaki uk ,called Kawasaki uk this afternoon, they advised I take my bike to my local dealer , I have just returned from the dealers, they have took more pictures and are putting in a claim on my behalf. no guarantees , but have to try under the warranty , I am sure this is a defect on the base coat of the tank as I cant get my touch paint to take to it, if all fails I will
have to put a bit etching primer on the bare steel before I try again to touch it in the best I can will report back when I hear something ,fingers crossed !!!

Re: Arghhhh stone chip on top of my tank
just heard back from Kawasaki as I thought they say I have picked up a stone chip???? I am not so sure, like I said I never noticed it when I put the bike away , they may be right but it doesn't look like that to me , so on my mission again, I have just put a thin coat of etch primer on, will wait and then start putting some very light brush strokes of colour in making sure each coat is dry beforehand .

Re: Arghhhh stone chip on top of my tank
I have made two decals one to cover my original stone chip , the other to balance it out ,I will be fitting the tank cover ( wish I had got it earlier to save this mess !!) my attempts have failed to try and blend in the paint, will hopefully get it sorted at some stage . does anyone jnow how it maybe repaired correctly without removing and having the full tank resprayed and re badged ,
