54. I've got 4k miles on my SX SE so far, and just got in from replacing oil and pulling wheels for new tires.

I'm surprised that so many respondents fall into my age bracket. The ironic thing -- as I see it -- is that these bikes are built for 20-30 year old bodies, but fewer guys in that age range can afford a bike in this range. At least, I had no hope of spending this much on a bike when I was in my twenties. Back then, what I could afford was $800 for a ten year old Honda CB750.

I think it's more for 35-40 bodies. Most under 35 I know are either on sport bikes or cruisers.

You're prolly right. Thing is, I absolutely adore this bike, but long rides on it (200+ miles) sometimes make me feel my age, partly the result of damage done to my joints by bad bout of rheumatoid arthritis (blessedly now in remission) in my 30's and 40's.

As said, I've followed this poll since I posted to it, myself. There have been polls in Germany by Motorcycle Magazines that showed, those who rode in their 20´s in 1980 were the majority of those still riding today. Motorcycles seem to be having a deminishing popularity. Kawasaki has a program in place encouraging new and young riders to start on their bikes with a rebate.

Anyway, since this thread has been pictureless so far, here is the encounter at the dealer, of my princess (I traded in, after 18yrs of riding) and the Queen I now ride (I hope to ride until I'm 70+, like those three blokes in the poll)

I am one of those 70+ blokes. Really enjoy the bike and need to ride it more.

T-dawg, you inspire the rest of us, or me at least.

I'm discovering that at my age (54), keeping my body in condition for long rides is as important as ergonomics, especially as I'm dealing with some minor joint damage and a back that can give me grief.

I've started doing a workout and stretching routine to improve my ride longevity. The workout was inspired by the one in Lee Parks' book. Every other day, I do 20 minutes of planks, crunches, side crunches, back kicks, lats, rows, clams and other stuff, focusing on glutes, core and upper back. On my off days, I do a 20 minute stretching routine based on this video from Cycle World: https://tinyurl.com/yc94l5tr. I've added hamstring stretches as I think they are more important than any other stretching for ride longevity (tight hamstrings make me fatigue in the seat faster). If you do hamstring stretches, make sure to do them properly without bending your spine forward, or you may stress your back and negate any benefit.

Awsome!

Thunderdawg, I am impressed and deeply honored to meet you! Very inspiring!

Bloke was definitely not meant in a derogatory sense, I should have posted "cool dudes" instead!

Three years ago, New Year's Eve, I told myself: "More Motorcycling!" and since then, I am sticking to that. The wife has my company car and I ride to work on my bike. Where appropriate I even ride my bike to customers located in other parts of Germany. Only valid exception: subzero temperatures with frozen roads.

May you always ride safely!

Man, good to see so many in the 50 plus brackets here. At 65, I thought my sportbike days were done, sold my 2013 ZX14R about 3 years ago and bought a Buell Lightning. Then I just happened to see an SXSE at the Kawasaki dealer and sat on it, immediately I knew I had more sportbike left in me than I thought. Interesting I had a 2000ZX12R -turbocharged / nitrous injected beast of a bike that untill this one, it was my favorite of all time. When I sold it a guy 65 years old from Chicago bought it , I was about 52 years old and I remember being impressed a 65 year old would want a bike like that. Well, now I'm 65 and I get it, I'm sure my body will stop me from riding sportbikes before my mind is ready to give them up but not yet, NO, not yet!!!! :D
