Pressure peak on over run

Post by Bengarzy » Wed Apr 03, 2019 11:26 am

Just had a thought, my new SX SE doesn’t have the grunt up to 6k that my R1 did, if you look at the torque curves of both it should be the other way round, the R1 at 5k only has 40 odd ft lbs the H2 around 50% more (both standard) I have nearly completed the running in and have a service booked in a few days so will get them to look at it.
My question is if you close the throttle at 10k what does your boost gauge show? As I suspect a possible leak on the pressure side may be the reason for the lack of grunt, it’s not bad, just dissapointing.

If you close the throttle, the pressure gets dumped via the bov so on your gauge display it will read 100% atmospheric which is 0psi.

I'm going for a spin now, ill let you know what both my boost gauges show. I suspect around 17psi at 10k

Mine reacts totally different to the other gauges on the vids I have checked it against, non of the boost gauges drop like mine when the throttle is on the over run from high revs and they are much higher when the throttle is open.....I still suspect lack of boost, the bike isn’t very exciting to ride, the K1300 would leave it for dead

How many kms/miles on it? What power and traction control modes are you in?

One things for sure, the rear wheel isnt spinning 😂😂😂, it is slooooow and a lot of miles won’t make whatever ails it come right I’m afraid......it is obvious now after yesterday’s test that there is little or no boost up to 6k.
The engine super smooth and refined with none of the low end glitches that everyone of the test riders mentioned which would fit in with low boost....... if it wasn’t so new I would pull it apart and sort it.... just like I did wth the k1300 vibration...but that’s another story

Would it show up on a dyno?

I’m sure it would show on a dyno and if the first service and check throws no light on it that will be my next move.
