No Fly Zone Gila Bend 1/2 mile racing
I already posted this in the What Have You Raced thread but I'll post the videos here in later posts so I don't clog that thread up. I had some issues with my gopro. It has an auto stop feature. I got stuck in the staging lanes for a long enough time to auto stop the recording. Without realizing that the recording auto stopped I tried to manually stop the recording, but it actually started a new one. I ended up getting several videos of nothing in the staging lanes then stopping them just before my runs then restarting the recording back in the pits. So I only ended up with a few videos of the runs before the battery on the go pro went dead. The angle of the mount I used is great for following people or riding mountain roads but it isn't the best for drag racing. I should have angled it to the side. But I did find a few videos other people took at the event with me in it. The Vandemon exhaust is definetly noticeable over other vehicles. I'll post links to the videos in a little bit.
Here is the quick write up about the day I posted in the other thread.
I went to a half mile event over the weekend got a few races in. One of the first things I noticed was the elevation being 1,655 ft lower than where I normally ride made the bike harder to launch. The front wheel was really coming up pretty suddenly. It was like having a pogo stick on the front of the bike. As soon as the front wheel would touch the ground it would come back up until I got into 4th gear. That's with the launch control and TC on.
I started the day with about a 1/4 tank of 91oct so I was trying to run it out before switching to the race fuel tune. My best standing 1/2 mile on pump gas was 178mph. Switching to the race fuel the front lifted sooner but in a smoother more controlled manner so if I short shifted 1st TC was able to bring it down smoothly in 2nd and 3rd. My best race fuel run was 188mph. For comparison my best run at the same location but with a 330ft rolling start zone on my 2012 ZX-10R was 175mph. That bike was lowered strapped, 2/3 exhaust, filter, quick shifter, tune and -1,+2 gearing.
I had a few races with notable machines.
A few hellcats and I beat them all.
A 1,050whp twin turbo camaro never saw him behind me.
A hayabusa that was lowered slipon tuned quick shifter maybe more. He got out ahead of me off of the line as I was trying to ease into it to prevent wheeling. But I ran him down. It was one of my slower passes at 168mph.
A lowered BMW HP4 all carbon fiber body work, carbon fiber wheels. It looked like it was full bolt on but not sure what all those come with stock. Was way ahead of him from the start. Never saw him.
A 2015 H2. Might have been lowered owner claimed it was exhaust filter and tuned. Rider was probably at least 80lbs lighter than me. I got a way better start and beat him to the line. But if we had the same start he would have crushed me. I ran a 166mph that run and he was in the 180s. Later in the day he hit 200mph.
I put racefuel in it a few runs later and switched to my racefuel tune towards the end of the day. Ran a few corvettes and hellcats that I never saw after the start.
I ran a 1,500hp Nissan GTR. We started the same but I got out ahead. I was ahead most of the track despite hitting the rev limiter twice. He came around me at the very end of the run in the last 60ft. That run was in the low 180s.
My best run for the day was 188mph in the standing half mile. As the event wound down I got several back to back solo runs. Next time I go I'm going to lower and strap the bike and see what it'll do.

Here is my run against the 1,050whp camaro. Can't really see him during the run though.

This video is from the guy that was on the H2. At about 1:45 in the video is when I line up with him. I'm in the right lane.

This is someone else's video. I'm not really a fan of the way it's edited but I'm in it a couple times. I'm at 1:35 and 2:20ish maybe a couple more times.

Re: No Fly Zone Gila Bend 1/2 mile racing
Do you know what happened to the guy on the BMW at 1:10 in the last video? Seems like he had a problem with his wheelie.....

Re: No Fly Zone Gila Bend 1/2 mile racing
I talked to him he claimed the launch control only works on that bike at 100% throttle and according to the data logs he was only at 96% throttle. My guess is that the launch control wasn't turned on our it isn't setup properly.Gadus wrote: Wed Apr 03, 2019 11:51 am Do you know what happened to the guy on the BMW at 1:10 in the last video? Probably not turned on. Interesting to see how you overtake the Hayabusa in the first video. He has a good lead, but has no chance in the end!!

cOoTeR, I take that you were using TC1 on the track. Did you do any launches without any TC, thanks.

Re: No Fly Zone Gila Bend 1/2 mile racing
Yes TC1. Not at this event. After being flashed and tuned TC1 only really kicks in for wheelies when the front wheel is already pretty far up off of the ground. I use it more as a back up. But without it the front comes up in 3rd and would loop the bike if I'm not careful. I tried it a few times at the drag strip.Switch18 wrote: Wed Apr 03, 2019 8:54 pm cOoTeR, I take that you were using TC1 on the track. Did you do any launches without any TC, thanks.
