Side Stand

Post by Hempinfool » Thu Sep 24, 2026 6:17 pm

So I lowered my bike 1.5," and I bought the lowering link and side stand from Brocks. The side stand doesn't work because the side stand pin, located on the inboard side and which activates the safety switch, doesn't stay engaged when the side stand is up. I took pics, and Brocks stated that there are different factory setups, and mine was one that doesn't work. They are paying for the return, but I'm not sure what my next step is.
Does anyone use an adjustable side stand, and if so, what model do you use?

I will add to my lonely post.
I looked up the part # for the Side Stand Switch for years 18 through 26, and they all have the same part #. So I am lost on how it works in some years, but not all years, of the H2SXSE.

Maybe you can ask some local workshop just cut and lower and weld the OEM sideatand. My father had that done to his Z1300 and it has lasted 35 years already...

Yes, that is an option. I have lowered about 10 or so bikes, and that was my go-to move. I lower bikes to give my wife as many options as possible when we ride. The only drawback for me is that I'm not sure I am at my final lowering point. I believe the biggest hurdle will be the oil pan, but I'm not positive yet. I could always use Brock's side stand until I'm finished; I just wouldn't have the safety switch operational.
Thanks for bringing that up, since I hadn't mentioned it.

Here is a pic of the problem. I may try to make a new actuator lever that is a little longer.

I had brocks adjustable side stand. After a couple years it completely bent under the weight of the bike. Ended up putting the OEM back, even though I agree it makes our bikes too upright. Not sure if they made a stronger version after I bought mine, or what.

I had a ZX14R that someone had put a telescopic stand on it where you move the bolt to diff holes, seem to hold that bike up fine. No idea what the brand was but could be Googled.

Best to modify oem. My bike is stock but had a hard time on trips slightest incline and stand couldn't be used tip over.
I kept the stock one and orderd a new one for $63. just in case. waiting for it to come in.
Just cut off what you need, some good strong tacks for testing angle of foot, clearence, weld.(testing stay on side) of bike just in case. could even put a bigger foot on. but put a nice radius on the od of the foot.

Before you bent your Brocks Side Stand, did the side stand work with the safety lever?
