Now that I have looked at this a second time, I think I will just add another ball and arm to this radar setup and use that to mount my GoPro. Everything on the left side FTW

I had a similar idea to use the mirror bolts, but I just made mine with a piece of aluminium and a camera ram mount.

I found a great solution for mounting using the two mirror bolts.

https://www.rammount.com/part/RAM-B-309-1U

The holes were not quite wide enough so I drilled an extra hole (pretty soft aluminum). Mounted it between the fairing and the mirror and used longer bolts. Now my radar detector is super solid.

The ball itself sits a few mm away from the fairing, so no rubbing. And the mount itself is almost the same dimension as the mirror bracket' so it is a clean looking install. I plan to do the same for the other mirror for a GoPro mount as well.

Added bonus.....they act as mirror extender blocks....

Couple questions:

1. The mount came with spacers, but they look longer than yours. Did you get your own, or use the ones in the kit and cut them down?

2. You mentioned using longer bolts. Did you use the ones in the mount kit? Or did you have to get another set from a store/online because they were a different size? How long did you get them?

3. Lastly, you said you had to drill an extra hole; just to confirm that was in the mount bracket itself, yea?

Just trying to make sure I have everything I need before I do this to both sides. :D

I made my own spacers.
I took the OEM mirror bolts to my local fastener supplier, and got longer ones (basically 2cm longer to account for the spacers). You don't have to be too exact, there is plenty of room behind the fairing that lets you use longer bolts.
As for drilling, yes, I drilled the RAM mount closest to the ball
