Vibration after camchain tensioner recall performed

Post by DrVoodoo » Tue May 30, 2023 10:29 pm

Anyone had an issue of vibration in the bars after camchain tensioner recall?
Had the dealer do the recall this morning.
Rode the bike a few hrs. Got on the interstate and twisted it up ,all of a sudden around 6k the bars began to buzz with engine rpm like crazy to the point of numbness in hands.. absolutely out of character for this bike.
Im beyond pissed. Any feedback would be great.
The bike only has 3500 miles on it. .. 2019

After replacing the tensioner, I have already driven about 1000 km ... The usual speed is 130-150 ... Just 6000 revolutions ... Well, or 250 :D ... No vibrations, everything is as usual ... Mileage - will soon be 30.000 km .. .

You may want to consider installing a manual cct. Here’s a post I made on the subject a while ago. If the vibration is related to the cct a manual cct will definitely fix it.

To share a little more, the tech told me the procedure for engaging the tentioner was to hit the startwr button a few times..
He was having trouble withcthe install . Had to remove it a couple of times before he got it to work.
My concern is The posability of retarded intake cam timing or one tooth off at the crank with those failed attempts at chain tensioner actuation . the time after time of "hitting the starter button" without tension on the cam chain . Either of those possibilities would cause high rpm vibrations

No issues before or after my recall. Already posted up on why I stuck with the auto instead of manual. It all depends on what you want to deal with. I don't really care about the metallic noises when it first starts up.

Mine has a light ticking tapping right after starting from cold(not valve sounds). It doesn't sound intrusive at all.The sound would be in likeness of a fast moving but not menacing metallic sliding sound. After 1 second of sounding,it melts into the regular engine sound. It doesn't sound like that on any starts and stops after it's being ridden.t doesn't have a sharpness of sound.Just an overlying light ticking, then gone.
So how does a bike act if the chain jumps when riding?CAN it jump while riding?Could it be perfect one second then shebang goes the deal on next start?Anyone KNOW?(Not 'if the engine stalled it would lock the motor" thing.)That's a possibility. Not that's not what I'm asking really.

So broken internal parts getting jammed into all the wrong places is what stops the motor from being able to turn over physically.Yes?which would lock the wheel.IF the cam timing went 'off' by even a tooth, considering nothing was broken or damaged...would it still run(if not CAREFULLY)and still be driveable?
I'm trying to nail down exactly WHY they say 'replace it'.They worry about a wheel locking from this thing? If it 'fails while the operator is driving it'...could it DO that? :wtf:

I would think if it jumped a tooth you would notice the power difference from before.

Mine, 2021 SESX+ still has what sounds like a ringing bell at 3k rpm..in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd....after that cant hear....sometimes when its idling you can hear the odd ring....I have no vibration issues thankfully....but I had Kawasaki fly out to Oregon when it had only 3800 miles as i was complaining of the sound... OF course their 2 Techs could not hear the same sound myself and several others have heard. Its audibly undeniable!!! Then shortly after the CAM CHAIN TENSIONER recall came out and I thought this would be the fix for the ringng sound....NOT SO... still exists 7100 miles currently

That "ringing" is completely normal.
