I have been riding for the last few years at 40 mm without a problem the replacement pegs are not as thick as the stock pegs . they don't have the rubber , and some styles are tapered at the end of the peg to give more clearance, they also don't have the end piece on them , haven't tried them at 50 mm on my sx or zzr's but the 40 mm has been fine makes a massive difference , wonder why bike manufacturers don't give this option as the feedback from most people with of this type of bike is the same, seats , bars and footrests ????
