Very strange

After reading the posts on this forum , it seems many are trying to make this bike into something it isn’t 🤔 higher handlebars, backrests, comfy seats, taller screens , etc
I just don’t get it?!🤔it’s a “sit up “ crotch rocket, with a mechanical supercharged , it ain’t no touring bike , nor cruiser
It’s a comfy crotch rocket😜

I agree. I dont see this as a touring bike (other than the saddlebag option), and sports-tourer, perhaps. But it definately is a big ass sports bike

I dunno. I just put 1800 miles on it in 3 days and thought it did great as a sport-touring bike. 2 hard bags and a decent size tail bag did great! The seat does need a little help to improve time in seat, but I don't think its wrong of people to try to get a little more comfort out of it by tweaking their ergos.

I guess I’m tryin’ to achieve the best of both worlds. For me I need a little more touring for a better balance. Since I’ve been riding for close to fifty years now and have some options to help alleviate pains from old injuries by all means I will try to add more comfort.
Since my 5th & 6th vertebrae are fused my necks not as flexible, arthritis from a compressed L1 and cracked pelvis from 86 Is getting worse. Tomorrow I’m going to a shoulder specialist to have it looked at. My thought is surgery is the unfortunate option to fix the bones grinding together. If that’s the case at least winter is coming to heal up.
Personally the bike is still a great machine as is but for me I’m glad to support the aftermarket people.
On a side note why do so many people change exhausts, re-flash the ecu, this bike certainly is fast but we still want it to be smoother and faster?

Drnick,

Ya know, whether in the minds eye it's a crotch rocket, touring bike or . . . , it is in the mind of the holder. I suspect for the majority of folks changing things up, some of those changes are for comfort. This is not a one fit bike for all, size wise, performance wise, nor with aesthetics.

In part, having such a wide appeal to a varying interest base, is part or what makes this bike so fun.

I disagree, It's no crotch rocket. It's way too heavy and "chunky" for that. It is a sports tourer. The sort of bike you can ride 500+ miles in a day, then spend the next day chasing the crotch rockets around the mountain passes.

As a sports tourer, and like all sports tourers, it's a compromise. That can mean too heavy, slow of steering and "blunt" for a sports bike or too small, cramped and uncomfortable for a tourer.

However, it can also mean real world practicality on something reasonably focused and exciting. I prefer that view myself. :D

As a compromise, it's never going to be perfect and it's always going to attract riders/owners who would like a little more of something and are happy to sacrifice a little of something else. That's why higher bars, backrests, different screens, remaps are all on someone's shopping list.

However, the requirements for different seats are nothing to do with compromises. Whether you look at the bike as a crotch rocket, lardy tourer, sports tourer compromise, or whatever, it is, quite literally, a pain in the arse, and that has to be changed!!!!

for me it 100% is a sport tourer, ive done a couple trips on it and take it on sport bike type rides. I feel it is the least compromised sport tourer out there as far as giving up the least amount of sport and still be a capable tourer. It is what I had been looking for in a bike for a few years

As far as why install pipes and flash it? because it nicer to ride (smoother with less vibes) is more capable for sport riding (the throttle picks up smoother and more linear) and its more fun (more power that is controllable is always more fun), and gets better gas mileage in low power mode for touring (exclusive to my flash :) )

why wouldn't you want to do that?

It is whatever the owner wants it to be and why worry about what other's want. I don't think I have ever left a bike "stock", that was always part of the fun for me to personalize it to my taste and uses. As far as a re-flash, the only people that question that are the ones who have not done it. If you bought an H2SX, any sub-version, than you like performance, if you don't re-flash you are missing so much. It's not about having the fastest bike, it's about having the most fun, smoothest operation and best throttle response the bike is potentially capable of. This is absolutely one of the top 5 or 6 bikes ever produced by any manufacturer, enjoy it while they are available any way that appeals to you, the owner.
