new to having Panners on the H2 SX SE

Post by stanger1 » Fri Jan 14, 2022 8:25 pm

So,
I have had so many bikes over the years and my last two that I traded for the 21 H2 SXSE was a 2019 Honda Goldwing DCT and a 21 Kawasaki ZH2 SE.
So with the 21 H2 SX SE that I have now, I have never had the Panners, or Hard Bags on the bike. It feels kinds weird with them on.
Getting on and off is a whole new experience. Not sure I like them, but I need to be able to carry things at time. They do go on and off real easy.
Just different and I will get used to them.
What's everyone think of the Kawi KQ*28 Panners?

I have no problem with them. I only put the panniers on when going on trips. There is zero reason I would need those on the daily.

Then again I used to tour on a ZX-6R, never a 2 wheel couch, so my opinion is probably skewed.

Lol, Vex,
a 2 wheel couch. That is probably the reason I traded my 2019 Honda Goldwing DCT, but Honda had made the Wing smaller and littler than in years past.
I will just run the Panners when I need to. Summer time, I will be riding it almost everyday.
I just found out that I still need to add the Kawasaki 99994-1090.
I thought the Panners felt a little loose hanging back there!

I like how they look on the bike, and I don't notice any difference having them on or off. Getting on and off the bike without kicking them is slightly awkward but I can live with that.

My only complaint is they're a size too small and the shape of the bags makes them even smaller. If I camp off the bike I have to strap a dry bag on the back seat.

Tips getting on and off a bike with side cases:

Step on left foot peg with your left foot, and swing your right leg over. Like getting onto a horse.

I use the left peg all the time and I don't have the panniers. And I have a 36" inseam!

One of the reasons I bought panniers for my 2018 H2SXSE was because I always like a place to store my helmet and riding gear when I'm not on the bike. I found no difference between how the bike handled with/without panniers so for me there's no downside to riding with the panniers mounted. My one complaint in regards to the panniers was the indent at the rear of the pannier which reduces capacity for the sake of looks.

Wellcraft, I agree and would add one. On my previous BMW I could securely close the panniers but leave them unlocked while I ride. Much more convenient than Kawi.

Has anybody rode with the Panners on and without the Kawasaki 99994-1090 kit installed?
I still need to order that, but in the mean time, That kit does offer some much needed stability to the Panners.
I have a 21 H2 SX SE for reference.
