Quad Lock mount and iPhone vibration damage

Post by Gaffa22 » Sun May 02, 2021 11:11 am

Hi
Has anyone suffered the Quad Lock vibration damage to an iPhone camera on the H2 SX ?
Or are these bikes so smooth there is insufficient vibration to cause any damage

Last year I had a problem with my iPhone camera which I had mounted on a RAM mount for a 1500km tour. So I went to an Apple Store for warranty. The manager who is responsible to check warranty claims saw my helmet and said that the iPhone is not made to withstand the vibrations of a motorbike and I should not do it again but acknowledged the claim. I got a new camera module and I left the Apple Store 20 minutes later with a working iPhone. I still use it on the RAM mount but only in the city and not while fast revving.

No. These bikes are not that smooth. There is still the chance. This is one of the reasons I picked up a Garmin.

Yeh, my iPhone 11 camera died after riding with it mounted in the stem with a ball mount. Apple repaired it for me, and until I researched the problem I wasn’t aware of it.. the camera wouldn’t focus and made an audible buzzing/crackling sound when in operation. I bought a beeline moto satnav so I can keep my phone in my pocket.

Thanks guys
Confirmed my fears, I’ve ordered the vibration damper so hopefully won’t have any issues
