Steering lock positions -what's you favourite position

Post by turbodave » Wed Sep 16, 2020 2:51 pm

I have an H2 SX SE 2018
The steering lock has 1 extra position I noticed recently.
When you push it down to lock the steering it has two positions. I have tried both and I can't see any difference.
Anyone got any idea?

The second key position is an "AUX" position this used to allow older bikes than ours to put the tail and parking light on, presumably for when you left your bike in poorly lit areas. Ours only lets us put the hazard warning lights, and or the indicators on, I assume in case of a breakdown or emergency..

Also worth bearing in mind not to use the AUX lock as a general lock mode as it may discharge battery if left for too long.

I had no idea of the AUX position.

It was so confusing what that odd position was, and couldn't figure it out, I removed the ignition switch wiring!

I put in a keyless setup after seeing that Champ87 had done the prototype for the bike. Love it.

But I'm still wondering why my AUX position does nothing at all, now that it's been fully disconnected. JK

US models don't have an AUX position. At least the 2018 models didn't. I suspect that the 2019/2020 models don't either but I can't say for sure. Euro models do have an AUX position.

The dumb thing with the US models is that ,without an AUX position, the ignition has to be on to use the hazard lights.

Methinks Kawasaki riders in America don't need hazard lights. They never break down :cheer:
