Immobiliser warning light on

Post by spazbecker » Thu Mar 26, 2020 4:40 pm

Went out for a ride today, parked the bike outside the garage when I got back. I came out later to put it away and the red immobiliser warning light is flashing. The manual says it could be an immobiliser problem or an unmatched key. I suppose it's possible that someone has tried to start it with a key but unlikely because I live in an OK area.

The bike starts fine but when it's turned off the red light is still flashing. I could take it to my local dealer but they are on lockdown because of Corornavirus.

Does anyone have experience of this? anything I can do myself to clear the red key symbol? UK bike.

I don't, but my guess is after a few rides it will go off

It's supposed to do that. When you turn the ignition off the LED starts blinking to let you know the immobilizer is functioning. If you don't ride the bike it will stop blinking after 24 hours but the immobilizer is still working.

That's a shame because I'm sure it would've given them a good chuckle - although maybe embarrassing for you.

Eh? So why hasn't it flashed before in the last 9 months?!

It can be set to blink or not blink. If you disconnected the battery it will set to blink by default when the battery is reconnected.

US spec bikes don't have an immobilizer.

Surely your turn signal blink when you use them. :wtf:
