Night ride through the Mule mountains to Bisbee AZ

Post by cOoTeR » Fri Jun 01, 2018 1:48 pm

I hopped on the bike last night and went for a nice cruise through the desert, about 125 miles. It was perfect temperature fluctuated between 60° and 70°. Had a full moon that was so bright I could have rode without a headlight. There was hardly any traffic probably because I was riding in the middle of nowhere. At one point I was cruising along about 75mph and something hit me on my shoulder. It scared the crap out of me because I never saw it. It came out of nowhere and felt like someone threw a tennis ball at me. I'm pretty sure it was a bat or small bird though. I wish I had stopped to get some pictures of some of the city lights out in the distance. It was pretty cool to look out across the desert with no lights shining then seeing the city lights about 30 miles away. But I don't think the picture would have turned out nice.

Brights are good but the standard light is aimed too low. The cornering lights don't do a whole lot.

You're crazy man - I hate driving the interstate at night, let alone the back roads we have out here in AZ.

Years back, 10+, a girl smoked the side of a deer up on Mount Lemmon during a night ride. Way bigger balls than I sir :D

That's why I rarely ride at night. The deer are thick and suicidal.

You guys want to crazy rides. Me and a friend rode back from Austin following the moto GP race to my friends house in Artesia NM. Out in the middle of no where near the TX+NM line there were tons of deer. Like herds of them standing on both sides of the road. That was a little scary.

I'm originally from the Midwest and I used to love going for rides on summer nights out in the country. There is a strange calmness in the cool air. It's not quite the same out here but it's still relaxing. I love Mt. Lemmon at night strangely I've had more close calls with deer up there during the day.
